Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how Lecturai (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles personal data when you use lecturai.com and related services (the “Service”).

For privacy questions, contact us at privacy@lecturai.com.

Information we collect

Account information: email address, name or preferred name, and optional profile details such as university, course, and academic year.

Study content: lectures, files, notes, chats, flashcards, quizzes, and other materials you upload or generate in the Service.

Usage and technical data: log data, device/browser information, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, and product analytics needed to operate and improve the Service.

Billing information: if you subscribe, payment is processed by Stripe. We store subscription status and related identifiers; we do not store full payment card numbers.

How we use information

Provide, maintain, and improve the Service — including AI-generated study outputs and tutoring.

Authenticate accounts, process subscriptions, and send transactional emails (for example, password resets).

Protect security, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

Communicate with you about the Service when you contact us or when notices are required.

AI processing

To generate summaries, notes, flashcards, quizzes, and tutoring responses, we send relevant content you provide to third-party AI providers under contract.

We use your study materials to produce outputs for your account. We do not sell your lecture content.

AI outputs can be incorrect. Always verify important academic work against your own sources.

Legal bases (where applicable)

Where UK GDPR / EU GDPR applies, we process personal data based on: performance of a contract (providing the Service), legitimate interests (security, product improvement, fraud prevention), consent where required, and legal obligations.

Sharing

Service providers that help us run Lecturai — for example hosting, authentication, database, email, analytics, payments (Stripe), and AI model providers — process data on our instructions.

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer, subject to appropriate safeguards.

We do not sell personal information.

International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use appropriate transfer mechanisms offered by our providers.

Retention

We keep account and study data while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and associated content, subject to legal retention needs (for example, billing records).

Security

We use industry-standard safeguards appropriate to the Service, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and database row-level security for user-owned content where supported by our platform.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Please use a strong, unique password.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To exercise these rights, email privacy@lecturai.com. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

Children

The Service is intended for university students and adults. It is not directed at children under 16. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies necessary for authentication, preferences (such as theme), and basic product operation. Some analytics cookies may be used to understand how the Service is used.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the “Last updated” date below.
